Sun Valley Resort, ID and Snowbasin, UT are leaving Vail Resorts’ Epic Pass, and joining Alterra Mountain Company’s Ikon Pass for the Winter ’22-’23 season. Sun Valley and Snowbasin are both owned by the same parent company. The Ikon Pass also announced that they’re adding Chamonix in France for next season. Snowbasin Premier Platinum Passes were introduced during the 2022-23 winter season and include an Ikon Base Pass. In Utah, that provides access to Snowbird, Solitude and Brighton and 47 total destinations. This pass also provides the same benefits as the regular Premier Pass so you'll get unlimited summer and winter access at Snowbasin.The Ikon Pass offers discounts on summer activities, once-a-month pre-opening lift access, 25% off buddy passes, and 15% off food, beverage, and retail and lodging deals at select resorts. So if you are like the tens of millions of skiers and riders who hit the slopes in the United States every year, one of these passes could make a world of sense.And in an interesting reversal, Arapahoe Basin will no longer be blacked out on holidays for Ikon Base Pass holders. This is a pretty weird choice. I guess Arapahoe Basin must not have been overcrowded during the holidays this past season, but I'm still surprised.
